Consumidor:

El riesgo de infarto de miocardio y accidentes cerebrovasculares, incluyendo aquellos asociados con el uso de anticonceptivos orales y algunos el uso de estrógenos, es mayor en los pacientes con hipertensión. Por otra parte, los estrógenos (y progestágenos) puede elevar la presión arterial y empeorar la hipertensión, así agravar el riesgo. Clínicamente significativas de la presión arterial aumenta, se han reportado durante la terapia con estrógenos, especialmente en pacientes que reciben altas dosis o el tratamiento con anticonceptivos orales combinaciones de tener una alta actividad progestacional. Estos efectos también aumentan con la duración de la terapia y la edad del paciente. La terapia con estrógenos debe ser administrado con precaución en pacientes con historial de hipertensión. Los pacientes deben ser monitoreados por los cambios en el aparato circulatorio de estado, y sus antihipertensivos régimen ajustado o la terapia de estrógeno retirado como sea necesario. En pacientes que requieren anticoncepción, métodos alternativos deben ser considerados para los que son hipertensos, mayores de 35 años, y el humo.

Los estrógenos y los progestágenos pueden causar retención de líquidos, especialmente cuando se administra en dosis altas o durante períodos prolongados. La terapia con estos agentes debe ser administrado con precaución en pacientes que tienen problemas preexistentes con el exceso de líquido. Además, los pacientes con condiciones que pueden ser afectados negativamente por la acumulación de líquido, tales como el asma, la epilepsia, la migraña, y el aparato circulatorio o disfunción renal, deben ser observados por exacerbación de su enfermedad durante los estrógenos y/o progestágenos de la terapia.
